Cantaloupe Daruma
Product Drop on February 10th @ 2:22PM (PST)
This cantaloupe daruma has an orange face and green exterior that matches the color palette of a juicy cantaloupe. I (Young) loved eating melona (cantaloupe melon popsicles) after school, and it was something I looked forward to everyday before doing homework.
Daruma is a lucky symbol from Japanese culture. When you have a goal, you can color in one eye; and when that goal comes to fruit-ition, you can color in the other eye. It represents goal-setting, luck, and perseverance — perfect attributes to start off the year of the dragon with.
These darumas were a collaboration between Alice Lee x boyboystudios. Young casted the base shape, while Alice hand sculpted the fruit attachments, underglazed, fired, glazed, and fired each piece. Young then applied gold luster on top. A true ceramics collaboration! This initial collection has a limited run of 4 pieces.
Sizing: 5.5”x4”x3.5”
